Local privilege escalation via oversized receiver label
Published Mar 2, 2026 · Updated Mar 2, 2026
Improper input validation in Google Android 14 through 16-qpr2 allows local users to escalate privileges via a crafted package. DeviceAdminInfo.loadDescription passes a package-controlled description resource to PackageManager.getText without handling memory exhaustion from an oversized receiver label. Low-privileged local access is sufficient, no user interaction is required, and the resulting failure can keep the malicious package persistent.
