CVE-2025-48632

Local privilege escalation via overlong association display name

Published Dec 8, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Improper input validation in Android 14 through 16 allows local users to retain CDM associations and escalate privileges. AssociationRequest.java accepts an overlong displayName in its constructor, setDisplayName method, and builder instead of enforcing a length limit, allowing association state to persist after disassociation. Local users need no additional execution privileges or user interaction; successful exploitation retains companion-device privileges after disassociation.
