CVE-2025-48615

Local privilege escalation via oversized component names

Published Dec 8, 2025 · Updated Jun 1, 2026

Resource exhaustion in Android 14, 15, 16, and 16 QPR2 allows local users to escalate privileges without user interaction. MediaButtonReceiverHolder.getComponentName accepted overlong package and class names for persisted media-button receivers, allowing oversized component data to desynchronize persistent state. Exploitation requires a low-privileged local app that can register a crafted media-button receiver; network-only access does not reach the affected Framework path.
