CVE-2025-48586

Local privilege escalation via unchecked contact URI permission

Published Dec 8, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Confused-deputy flaw in Android 15 and 16 allows local users to read work-profile contacts through a returned contact URI. EditFdnContactScreen.onActivityResult validates the returned URI by comparing user IDs instead of checking the caller's read permission. A local app can exploit the privileged intermediary without user interaction or additional execution privileges, exposing work-profile contact data.
