CVE-2025-48574

Local privilege escalation via cleared caller identity

Published Mar 2, 2026 · Updated Mar 2, 2026

Missing authorization in Android 14 through 16 allows local users to intercept drag-and-drop events and elevate privileges. DisplayPolicy.validateAddingWindowLw checks task-management permission after the Binder caller identity has been cleared, so the check does not evaluate the requesting app's supplied UID and PID. A local app needs no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and successful exploitation exposes global drag-and-drop events beyond its authorization.
