Local privilege escalation via stale pinned task
Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026
Confused-deputy behavior in Android 14 Framework allows local users to escalate privileges by launching an activity from the background. PipTaskOrganizer retains a stale pinned task after a SystemUI reboot, so later task-handling paths act as a privileged deputy for the background app. Exploitation requires local low-privileged code but no user interaction, and successful abuse permits unauthorized background activity launch with elevated privileges.
