CVE-2025-48564

Local privilege escalation via mutable intent type

Published Dec 8, 2025 · Updated Sep 8, 2026

Race condition in the Android Framework 14 through 17 allows local users to escalate privileges by bypassing intent filters. IntentForwarderActivity resolves an intent's MIME type twice, allowing the type to change after canForward approves it and before launch. A low-privileged local app can win the timing window without user interaction and launch an intent that the cross-profile filter should block.
