Local audio capture via partial attribution validation
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Missing authorization in Android Framework 13 through 15 allows local users to record audio from a background app without interaction. AudioRecordClient revalidates only the top entry of an audio attribution chain, so later app identities can retain an allowed recording AppOp state. A locally installed background app needs no extra execution privileges to capture microphone audio while the permission and indicator state remains inconsistent.
