Privilege escalation in Android 16 MediaProvider allows local users to bypass storage permission checks through a favorite-marking request. MediaProvider's markMediaAsFavorite path trusted caller-supplied content values, letting preset values alter fields other than the intended is_favorite Boolean. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and user interaction, and grants writes that the caller lacks WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission to perform.
