Local privilege escalation via unsanitized cross-profile intents
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Improper input validation in Android 13 through 16 allows local users to gain privileges by launching ChooserActivity in another profile. ChooserActivity reused caller-supplied payload intents for cross-profile tabs without clearing explicit package or component targets, including selectors. A local app needs no additional execution privileges or user interaction; successful exploitation bypasses profile-sharing policy and launches an activity in another profile.
