Guest confidentiality loss via cross-mode ASID assignment
Published Feb 10, 2026 · Updated Feb 10, 2026
Insufficient access control in AMD SEV firmware allows local users controlling a malicious hypervisor to expose SEV-SNP guest data. The firmware accepts creation of a SEV-ES guest with an ASID drawn from the range reserved for SEV-SNP guests, failing to keep the protection domains distinct. Exploitation requires high local privileges and hypervisor control; the documented consequence is limited to partial guest confidentiality loss.
