CVE-2025-48502

Host crash via unvalidated MSR overwrite

Published Nov 21, 2025 · Updated Nov 24, 2025

Improper input validation in AMD uProf before 5.0 allows local users to interrupt service by overwriting model-specific registers. AMD has not disclosed the affected driver or input path; it states only that insufficiently validated input is used to overwrite MSR registers. Low-privileged local access is required, and successful exploitation is limited to a host crash or denial of service with no reported data exposure or modification.
