Session data theft via stored conversation markup
Published May 30, 2025 · Updated May 30, 2025
Stored XSS in FreeScout before 1.8.178 allows remote authenticated users to steal browser-accessible data via edited conversation bodies. The conversation AJAX save path stores and renders attacker-supplied event-handler markup after relying on bypassable client-side tag filtering. Exploitation requires an authorized account, disabled CSP, and a separate user to view the affected conversation; the script runs within that user's session.
