Arbitrary directory deletion via locale path traversal
Published May 30, 2025 · Updated May 30, 2025
Path traversal in FreeScout before 1.8.180 allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary server directories via a crafted locale. The postRemoveLocale handler passes each attacker-controlled remove-locale array key to removeLocale without validating it as a locale identifier or confining the resolved path. Administrator rights and network access to /translations/locales/remove are required; deletion is limited by the web process's filesystem permissions.
