Sync data disclosure via implicit URI permission grant
Published Oct 8, 2025 · Updated Oct 8, 2025
Information disclosure in DuckDuckGo Browser 5.246.0 and earlier on Android 13 and earlier allows local users to read Sync account data. The exported ProxyActivity forwards an attacker-controlled intent, and Android 13 or earlier implicitly grants its content URI read access when the intent carries text. Exploitation requires a malicious app on the device and user interaction with a crafted page; the app can copy the Sync recovery PDF containing credentials and Email Protection details.
