SYSTEM code execution via installer junction deletion
Published Jun 17, 2025 · Updated Jun 18, 2025
Link following in Trend Micro Password Manager before 5.8.0.1330 allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM during installation. The Windows installer follows an attacker-created junction and deletes an arbitrary file through the redirected path. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution and an administrator to run the installer, after which file deletion enables SYSTEM execution.
