CVE-2025-48413

Root access via shipped hard-coded credentials

Published May 21, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Hard-coded credentials in eCharge Hardy Barth cPH2 and cPP2 firmware 2.2.0 and earlier allow attackers to gain root access using the shipped password. The update files expose a static root password hash in /etc/shadow, while the device provides no end-user control to delete or change the password. SSH root login is disabled by default and requires another path to enable it; physical UART access is also a reported route to full OS control.
