Stored XSS via decoded tooltip attributes
Published Aug 28, 2025 · Updated May 12, 2026
Stored XSS in ItayXD Responsive Mobile-Friendly Tooltip 1.6.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject browser scripts. Tooltip shortcode content is escaped into a title attribute, but jQuery decodes that attribute and passes the resulting HTML to .html() without sanitization. Contributor-level posting access is sufficient; the stored script executes in a visitor's browser when the injected page is viewed.
