CVE-2025-48072Public exploit

Application crash and memory disclosure via pointer miscalculation

Published Jul 31, 2025 · Updated Jul 31, 2025

OpenEXR 3.3.2 out-of-bounds read allows attackers to crash applications or expose process memory via a crafted EXR file. LossyDctDecoder_execute advances an si128 source pointer by 64 elements as though it addressed uint16_t values, moving reads beyond non-block-aligned DWAA chunks. Reaching the flaw requires SSE2 and a consuming application to open a forged DWAA-packed scan-line file; the demonstrated result is a crash, while adjacent heap memory is exposed.
