Authenticated code execution via null-scope authorization failure
Published May 21, 2025 · Updated May 21, 2025
Improper authorization in affected XWiki Platform releases allows remote authenticated users with edit rights to enable code execution. RightsFilterListener dereferences a null required-right scope while handling an authorization denial, so the resulting exception prevents the document update event from being canceled. Exploitation requires required-rights enforcement across all documents and later editing by a programming-rights user; XWiki still warns that user unless required-rights analysis is bypassed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
