CVE-2025-48058Network attack vector

CPU exhaustion via DataSource regex backtracking

Published Jun 20, 2025 · Updated Jun 20, 2025

ReDoS in PowSyBl Core before 6.7.2 allows remote attackers to exhaust CPU resources through crafted DataSource inputs. The listNames(String regex) method compiles an unvalidated caller-supplied pattern and matches it against file-like resource names, allowing extensive backtracking on near-matches. Exploitation requires control of both the regex and the matched filenames through a direct ReadOnlyDataSource call; PowSyBl's internal calls use hardcoded patterns.
