Script execution via DOM text reinterpretation
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2025
DOM-based XSS in powertip.ts in Lichess Lila before ab0beaf allows remote attackers to execute script via crafted DOM text. The imagePowertip preRender callback interpolates data-src, data-width, and data-height values into an img string assigned to #image-powertip.innerHTML. Exploitation requires attacker control of those sanitized DOM attribute values and a user to trigger the tooltip, allowing script to run in the affected page's browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
