Root command execution via unsanitized ping configuration
Published May 29, 2025 · Updated May 29, 2025
OS command injection in MICI NetFax Server before 3.0.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through /test.php. The endpoint's ping test reads stored configuration values such as ETHNAMESERVER and passes them to a system command without rejecting backticks. Administrative authentication is required, but supplied backtick expressions execute as root, allowing full control of the appliance.
