CVE-2025-48039Network attack vectorHinoki check available

Authenticated service interruption via oversized SFTP paths

Published Sep 11, 2025 · Updated Sep 11, 2025

Resource exhaustion in affected Erlang/OTP SSH releases allows remote authenticated users to interrupt SFTP service via oversized paths. ssh_sftpd parses attacker-controlled, length-prefixed path fields for file operations without enforcing a maximum, allowing excessive CPU and memory allocation. The server must enable the optional SFTP subsystem and grant the attacker an account; the documented consequence is degraded stability and service availability.
