Course answer disclosure via unguarded asset download
Published May 21, 2025 · Updated May 22, 2025
Missing authorization in Open edX Platform before 6740e75c0fdc7ba095baf88e9f5e4f3e15cfd8ba allows remote attackers to download python_lib.zip. The contentserver asset path treats an unlocked course code library as public because is_user_authorized performs no filename-specific permission check. A course must use custom Python-graded problem blocks; disclosure is limited to the library's grading code and problem answers.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
