Authenticated RCE via unsanitized backup password
Published Oct 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 20, 2025
OS command injection in the Microchip TimeProvider 4100 web interface before 2.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute system commands. The backup configuration password parameter is passed to an operating-system command without adequate sanitization, so shell metacharacters alter the command. Exploitation requires low-privilege access from an adjacent network to the management interface and yields arbitrary command execution on the appliance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
