CVE-2025-47869Network attack vector

Unauthenticated memory corruption via undersized XML-RPC buffers

Published Jun 16, 2025 · Updated Jun 16, 2025

Buffer overflow in the XML-RPC example in Apache NuttX before 12.9.0 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via crafted parameters. In examples/xmlrpc/calls.c, four device-statistics string fields accepted remotely supplied values into fixed 80-byte stack buffers instead of CONFIG_XMLRPC_STRINGSIZE+1 buffers. Exposure requires firmware built from or based on the optional XML-RPC example; overflowing these buffers can corrupt adjacent stack memory.
