API credential disclosure via cleartext firmware storage
Published Jun 27, 2025 · Updated Sep 2, 2025
Hard-coded credentials in Flock Safety Gunshot Detection devices before 1.3 allow physically proximate attackers to extract API secrets. The firmware stores a client ID and client secret in cleartext in its NVS partition and invokes them as a fallback when normal authentication fails. Physical access and device-debugging knowledge are required to dump the firmware; published research did not validate whether the credentials grant cloud access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
