Privilege escalation via overprivileged administrative commands
Published Jul 10, 2025 · Updated Jul 15, 2025
Privilege escalation in Wing FTP Server 7.4.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root or SYSTEM. The web console and task scheduler pass administrative commands to the operating system under the service's default root or SYSTEM account. An administrative web role is required, but that role need not confer operating-system administration; the vendor disputes that the behavior is a flaw.
