Server-side data access via external SVG entities
Published May 14, 2025 · Updated May 14, 2025
XXE in the Sulu SVG file inspector allows remote authenticated users to load external data through a crafted media upload. SvgFileInspector passes uploaded SVG text to DOMDocument::loadXML with LIBXML_NOENT and LIBXML_DTDLOAD, enabling entity substitution and external DTD loading. Administrative media-upload privileges are required, and successful exploitation makes the server retrieve attacker-selected external resources during XML processing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 2.5.21, < 2.5.25
- Affected versionversion=>= 2.6.5, < 2.6.9
