Host filesystem modification via cached path resolution

TOCTOU race in containerd 2.1.0 allows remote attackers to modify the host filesystem through a specially crafted container image. The pkg/archive tar extractor caches a directory's RootPath result, allowing a later archive entry to replace the checked path with a symlink before file creation. Exploitation requires a user to pull or import the malicious image, after which writes can escape the extraction root and alter host files.
