CVE-2025-47281Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Controller crashes via nil JMESPath type assertion

Published Jul 23, 2025 · Updated Jul 23, 2025

Denial of service in Kyverno 1.14.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to crash policy controllers via a crafted policy. The getValueAsStringMap function asserts that each expanded metadata-map value is a string, but an invalid JMESPath function after {{@}} substitutes nil and triggers a panic. Policy or ClusterPolicy write permission is required; Audit mode kills workers and crash-loops reporting, while Enforce mode can crash the admission controller.
