CVE-2025-47276Network attack vector

Account compromise via fast SHA-512 password hashes

Published May 13, 2025 · Updated May 13, 2025

Weak password hashing in Actualizer before 1.2.0 allows attackers to crack Alpha and root account passwords more efficiently. The shell script passes both passwords to openssl passwd -6 and installs the resulting fast SHA-512-crypt values in the generated Debian system. Exploitation requires access to or repeated authentication attempts against those accounts; successful guessing grants the account's privileges.
