CVE-2025-47153Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Process crash via inconsistent file-offset ABI

Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 2, 2025

Out-of-bounds access in Debian's i386 nodejs packages through 20.19.0+dfsg-2 allows attackers to crash Node.js processes. The nodejs binary uses the 32-bit system-default off_t layout while dynamically linked libuv uses _FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64, so file-operation structures disagree and Node.js reads beyond the expected object boundary. The issue is confined to affected 32-bit Debian builds using shared libuv and has been reproduced as a segmentation fault during npm extraction and browserify processing.
