CVE-2025-4701Public exploit

Local code execution via unsafe checkpoint deserialization

Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2025

Unsafe deserialization in VITA-MLLM Freeze-Omni 20250421 allows local users to execute code through a crafted model checkpoint. The load_checkpoint function passes its path argument to torch.load without weights_only on both CPU and GPU paths, permitting embedded pickle objects to execute during loading. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and control of the checkpoint path; successful loading runs payloads with the application process's rights.
