Stored XSS via unescaped Slider and Carousel attributes
Published May 27, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in WPDeveloper Essential Blocks for Gutenberg 5.4.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via block attributes. The Slider and Post Carousel frontend renderers place attacker-controlled HTML attribute values into saved page markup without adequate sanitization or output escaping. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and the stored script runs in the browser of any user who opens the injected page, enabling actions in that user's site context.
