CVE-2025-46817Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via Lua unpack overflow

Published Oct 3, 2025 · Updated Oct 3, 2025

Integer overflow in Redis before 8.2.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a specially crafted Lua script. The luaB_unpack function uses signed arithmetic to calculate the requested result count before checking stack capacity, and luaH_getnum decrements an attacker-controlled integer key before bounds checking. Access to the EVAL or FUNCTION command families is required; successful exploitation corrupts memory and can crash the server or execute code.
