Account takeover and server RCE via unsanitized iframe
Published May 5, 2025 · Updated May 5, 2025
Stored XSS in Open WebUI before 0.6.6 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript when a user opens a crafted chat transcript. MarkdownTokens.svelte sends any HTML token containing the local file-iframe prefix directly to Svelte's raw HTML sink, leaving event attributes unsanitized. A victim must open a shared transcript; injected code can steal the browser access token, take over the account, and reach backend code execution when the victim is an administrator.
