CVE-2025-46627Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root telnet access via MAC-derived password

Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 2, 2025

Weak credentials in Tenda RX2 Pro 16.03.30.14 allow remote attackers to obtain root telnet access using device MAC information. The firmware derives the root password from the last two digits or octets of the MAC address, so observable device data yields valid credentials. Network reachability to the telnet service and knowledge of the MAC suffix are sufficient to authenticate as root and control the router.
