Persistent root shell via setLanCfg command injection
Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 2, 2025
Command injection in Tenda RX2 Pro 16.03.30.14 allows remote authenticated users to gain a root shell through a crafted web request. The httpd setLanCfg API endpoint fails to validate or sanitize attacker-controlled configuration input before incorporating it into a command. Access to the web management portal is required, and the injected command is stored in device configuration, making root access persistent.
