CVE-2025-46392Network attack vector

Application interruption via excessive configuration processing

Published May 9, 2025 · Updated May 13, 2025

Resource exhaustion in Apache Commons Configuration before 2.0.0 allows attackers to interrupt applications through untrusted configuration data. Apache identifies multiple loading and API-usage paths that consume excessive resources but does not disclose the affected classes, methods, or exact operations. Exposure requires an embedding application to load attacker-controlled configurations or expose attacker-controlled usage patterns, resulting in resource exhaustion and service interruption.
