Database process crash via contradictory transaction state
Published Jul 22, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Reachable assertion in Bloomberg Comdb2 8.1 allows remote attackers to crash a database process with crafted distributed-transaction packets. The coordinator_aborted function calls abort when an attacker first marks a chosen transaction ID committed and then submits an abort for that same ID. Network access to the native query service is sufficient, and successful exploitation interrupts that database node without reported data disclosure or modification.
