Contributor-level stored XSS via shortcode generation
Published Apr 22, 2025 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in the Sirv WordPress plugin 7.5.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts into published pages. Sirv's 7.5.4 changelog identifies shortcode generation as the security-sensitive area, but public materials do not disclose the affected function, input field, or missing encoding operation. Contributor-level access is required, and the stored script executes when another user visits the injected page, enabling actions in that visitor's browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
