Unauthenticated code execution via hostname format string
Published Jul 21, 2025 · Updated Jul 28, 2025
Format string injection in CommScope RUCKUS Unleashed before 200.15.6.212.14 or 200.17.7.0.139 allows remote attackers to execute code. The stamgr_cfg_adpt_addStaFavourite and stamgr_cfg_adpt_addStaIot functions use a client hostname as the snprintf format string, causing attacker-supplied conversion directives to be processed. Exploitation requires either an authenticated _conf.jsp request or local-network DHCP hostname injection after spoofing a favorite station MAC address; the latter path grants unauthenticated controller code execution.
