Unauthenticated template execution via path normalization bypass
Published Jul 21, 2025 · Updated Jul 23, 2025
Path traversal in CommScope Ruckus Unleashed and ZoneDirector allows remote attackers to execute uploaded EJS templates without authentication. The webs daemon converts a leading parent-directory segment into a dot-prefixed relative path that evades ForbidEjsDirs, then strips the dot and loads the forbidden template. The chain requires a compiled template in a writable firmware directory, such as through FTP; it exposes arbitrary file operations and privileged controller functions in Unleashed release branches before 200.15.6.212.27 and before 200.18.7.1.323, and ZoneDirector before 10.5.1.0.282.
