Administrator-session script execution via unchecked postMessage
Published Aug 4, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2025
PostMessage XSS in Liferay Portal and DXP fragment preview allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in an administrator's session. The handleIframeMessage handler accepts messages from any origin and assigns message data to the portlet-body element as HTML without validation. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to open the crafted preview page, allowing attacker script to act in that browser session.
