Account takeover via fixed session identifier
Published Apr 28, 2025 · Updated Jul 8, 2026
Session fixation in PHPGurukul Hostel Management System 2.1 allows remote attackers to take over accounts through a preset session identifier. The change-password.php workflow accepts a predictable or attacker-supplied session token and does not replace it after the victim authenticates. A victim must authenticate with the fixed identifier; the attacker can then reuse that session to access the account and change its password.
