Browser script execution via unsanitized SVG uploads
Published Jul 25, 2025 · Updated Jul 25, 2025
Stored XSS in OpenCart 4.1.0.4 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a visitor's browser through a crafted SVG upload. The media manager stores SVG files for blog posts without sanitizing embedded JavaScript, so the browser interprets attacker-controlled script. No application privileges are required, but exploitation requires a visitor to render a blog post that references the uploaded SVG; impact is limited to confidentiality and integrity in that browser context.
