Authenticated web-process crash via unchecked sprintf
Published May 13, 2025 · Updated May 14, 2025
Buffer overflow in TOTOLINK A3002R 4.0.0-B20230531.1404 allows remote authenticated users to crash the boa web process. The formMapDelDevice handler in boa passes the attacker-controlled macstr POST value to sprintf without a length check, overflowing a fixed-size buffer. A valid sessionCheck value and clientoff=no are required; the published proof of concept demonstrates a boa process crash, while code execution is not demonstrated.
