Root command execution via unsanitized mp parameter
Published May 13, 2025 · Updated May 14, 2025
Command injection in EDIMAX CV-7428NS firmware 1.20 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through the mp endpoint. The mp function reads the command parameter with websGetVar, inserts it into a /bin/rftest.sh command line, and passes the result to system without adequate metacharacter validation. An unauthenticated network request to /goform/mp reaches the flaw, and injected commands run with root privileges.
